Metrosideros polymorphs or Ohi’a lehua, growing on the sea level lava fields and the sub-alpine flanks of Mauna Loa. It was as ubiquitous as dandelions, yet highly revered by the native Hawaiians as well as all new comers to the islands. It is a beautiful tree related to eucalyptus.
